今年も面白い本にかかわることができた。この1000億分の1の太陽系―400万分の1の光速
という、グラフィックデザイナーの松田行正さんの本は言葉でちょっと説明しにくいが、文字通りの太陽系のスケールモデルだ。「読み物」というよりもコンセプチュアル・アートの作品のようなものだが、文書もあり、宇宙や距離や速度に関する雑学もあり、その文書は全部バイリンガルで、英訳は僕だ。よろしくね！（なお、どこかの本屋さんで立ち読みやチェックしようと思ったら、気をつけてね。レンガのように分厚いこの本はケースに入っているが、ケースに入れるときは下からでないと入れない！）
This is a rather unusual book that I had the fortune to be involved with recently, a literal scale model of the solar system by the graphic designer Yukimasa Matsuda. Not so much a book to "read" really as a kind of conceptual work of art, but nevertheless there are some texts in it, not least a lot of amusing snippets on space, distances and speeds. All bilingual, translated by me.It's a bit of a brick with over 600 pages that comes in a case and can be ordered trough the link above (hint, hint) , but if you want to check it out in a bookstore, do be careful - the book will only slide smoothly into the case if inserted from below.
